Spar International has announced a new partnership with Burque Group, which will see the retailer open its first stores in Pakistan, starting in Karachi.
The first store is a newly built 1,000 sq m supermarket in Pakistan’s biggest city, Karachi.
It will offer a bakery, butchery, full diary offering, fruit and vegetable section, Food-to-Go counter, full dry grocery offer as well as a pharmacy and health and beauty sections.
The expansion will see Pakistan become a part of SPAR’s international network which now spans 46 countries across the globe.
Spar International’s partner, Burque Group, is one of Pakistan’s largest sales management and distribution companies of a diversified range of fast-moving consumer-good brands, and since 1974 has been a key distributor for major companies in the country.
Ali Sherazi, CEO of SPAR Pakistan said:“Both SPAR Pakistan and SPAR International believe that the launch of SPAR will be a watershed moment for food retailing in Pakistan.

Earlier this year, SPAR International reported global retail sales of €33.1 billion in 2016 across 12,500 stores in 44 countries.
